A Prince And His (White) Castle

Hi Friends!
I am so sorry I haven't been blogging lately. It has been midterms for me and I haven't had any extra time. I have missed you all and I am so excited to start blogging again.

I know it's March already but I haven't had the chance to share with you my Valentine's dinner with Mister Z. Let's just say it was a Valentine's Day I'll never forget!

Mister Z loves to eat at White Castle. I am not a big fast food person, and I am very picky on what fast food places I go to. When Z found out I had never been to White Castle he insisted that we go. And to him, what better day to go on than Valentine's Day. I really didn't want to go but it was the only thing he asked for. How could I say no?

Every Valentine's Day, White Castle takes reservations and they serve you inside. They also have it all decorated with balloons, flowers, confetti, table cloths (plastic), and they even make new menus. Oh and lets not forget the candle they have burning on the tables...they wanted to make it as romantic as possible. Ha!
Z was so excited for Valentine's Day to arrive. He had his heart set on this for over a month and made reservations for us well in advance.

Once we arrived, I couldn't get over how many guests were inside. The hostess set us at our table and gave us a menu to look over. I even had her take a picture of us before we ordered (Sadly, I accidentally deleted it & I didn't have it saved anywhere).

Z insisted that we ordered the "Sweethearts Special". It consisted of 10 burgers, 2 drinks, 2 small fries, and I had to order some cheese sticks. I really didn't want to order this much food, because I didn't know if I was even going to like it. But Z insisted.

The food finally arrived and Z couldn't wait for me to try it. I however, wasn't excited about it at all. I had one bite of a bacon cheese burger and thought I was going to cry. The meat tasted like sausage and I hate the smell or taste of sausage!! It was all I could do to swallow the small bite I had taken. Even the fries and cheese sticks were gross. How could you mess up on fries and cheese sticks? Lets just say I hope Z doesn't want to make this a tradition. But it was so cute to see him have such a good time and he called it an "experience of a lifetime". Ha! He really needs to do more stuff doesn't he?

In all honesty, I did have a great time because I knew how much it meant to him. And he really loved and appreciated how I went out of my comfort zone and tried something new. He did take me out the Saturday before Valentine's Day, and took me to one of my favorite restaurants (Malone's) here in Lexington. It was a wonderful evening we spent together, and we had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day twice.

Sorry for such a long post! I just wanted to share my very interesting Valentine's Day experience with you! Have any of you tried White Castle before? Did you like it?

Hope everyone has had a great week so far!

Love Always,
Alaka

  1. I have to be honest, I have never tried White Castle. The outside scares me. Very sweet of you to try it on Valentine's.

  2. How funny!! I'm not a huge Valentine's Day fan, so something like that is right up my alley ;) it's the person, not the place, anyways :) Glad you guys had fun (and great gal for doing that for him!)

  5. Hahahaha! I laughed so hard reading this, imagining how difficult it would be for me to be polite during a "romantic" dinner at White Castle. What a fabulous story you both will have, and it was very very great of you to be such a sport. ;)
